As the year comes to a close, many people are planning road trips to cooler destinations in the provinces. One thing they are sure to encounter, which can’t be avoided, is fog. Here are some safety tips for driving in fog:
- Regularly check the condition of your vehicle, especially the lighting system.
- Always turn on your headlights and fog lights to improve visibility.
- Park in a safe area. Never park your car in thick fog, as it could cause accidents.
- Use your signals properly. Turn on your indicators when making turns, and never use hazard lights while driving, as it can confuse other drivers.
- Avoid sudden overtakes or lane changes, and never brake suddenly. Stop your car only when it’s absolutely necessary.
- If your windshield fogs up, turn on the defogger or slightly lower the windows to balance the temperature inside and outside the vehicle.
